HOW TO BUILD A CUSTOM MADE WINDOW PELMET
Pelmets and window treatments are essential when finishing any room. Sheer curtains are not only on trend but they also allow filtered light in, which creates a very soothing environment.
The pelmet is useful as it is decorative: it is there to hide the ugly mechanisms of the block out blinds, but also to add a bit of texture and contrast. If done well - it can become a feature without being too overwhelming.
I wanted to bring attention to the Tasmanian oak from the coffee table - so using the same wood for the pelmet would work in harmony for these materials within the room, but would also have a great contrast against the charcoal wall colour.
The room certainly looks more finished now and the oak parquetry table is now complimented by the oak window pelmet.
This is a quick and easy to follow how to video, it really is as easy at it looks to make a pelmet for any window - don't pay someone to do it for you, when you can easily do this yourself.
